Phoenix Ancient Art - Background
Phoenix Ancient Art is a second generation Ancient Art business, originally founded in the mid-1960s by the late S. Aboutaam. Today, Mr. Aboutaam's sons, Ali and Hicham, who grew up with a great love for and first-hand knowledge of antiquities, run the business and manage, respectively, the Geneva and New York City galleries. Phoenix Ancient Art is considered by many experts to be the world's leading dealers in rare and exquisite antiquities.

The Geneva gallery, at 6 rue Verdaine, in the Old Town.
The two galleries house works of art that originate from the cultures that form the basis of Western Civilization. Phoenix Ancient Art's offerings include treasures from a broad geographic sweep of the Mediterranean Basin, taking in the vast expanse between the Iberian Peninsula all the way eastward to the Indus River Valley. Its scope includes Mesopotamia, the Near East, Egypt, all of Europe, the Balkans, Eurasia, Byzantium, the Steppes, Greece, and the Roman Empire.

The New York gallery, at 47E. 66th Street.
The galleries show exceptional antiquities that represent more than 7,000 years of human history, from the Neolithic Period of the 6th Millennium B.C. through the 14th century A.D. In each location, the works of art are displayed against simple and elegant backgrounds to set off each object to its best advantage. Each piece shown is a great example of the superb craftsmanship of the civilization it represents.
